Airline Pet Carrier Requirements

CONTINENTAL AIRLINES IN-CABIN TRAVEL
Continental allows domesticated cats, dogs, pet rabbits and household birds to be carried in the aircraft cabin on all domestic flights (except to/ from Hawaii). In-cabin pets are not counted as part of your free baggage allowance and are subject to an $95.00 service charge each way ($190.00 for round trip travel). For International in-cabin pet acceptance and service charge information, contact our worldwide reservation office (in the U.S. 1-800-525-0280) for assistance. Pets must be carried in an approved in-cabin kennel. The pet must be able to move comfortably in the kennel (stand up and turn around). The kennel must fit completely under the seat forward of the customer and remain there at all times aboard the aircraft. Maximum dimensions are: 22" L x 14" W x 9" H (56 cm L x 36 cm W x 23 cm H). In-cabin Pet Kennels are available for a $50.00 service charge. The dimensions are 17" L x 12.5" W x 8" H (43 cm L x 32 cm W x 20 cm H). In-cabin pet restrictions: Only one pet is allowed in the First or BusinessFirst cabin and two in Economy. Customer is responsible to determine and comply with all state entry requirements which may apply. Advance arrangements must be made. Pet under 8 weeks old is not permitted. One kennel per customer will be accepted. Pet must travel on the same flight as the owner. Pet must remain in the kennel at all times aboard the aircraft. No oxygen will be administered to a pet in the event of an emergency.

DELTA AIRLINES IN-CABIN TRAVEL
Your pet can travel with you in the cabin for a fee of $75 one-way (to be collected at check-in) when traveling within the United States or Canada. Pets permitted in the cabin include dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs. Monkeys, pot-bellied pigs, reptiles, frogs, mice, rats, and spiders are not permitted. The following restrictions apply: Your pet must be small enough to fit comfortably in a kennel under the seat directly in front of you. Maximum carry-on kennel dimensions are determined by your flight. You must contact Delta Reservations to determine the appropriate kennel size. Your pet must remain inside the kennel (with door secured) while in a Delta boarding area (during boarding and deplaning), a Delta airport lounge, and while onboard the aircraft. Your pet must be at least 8 weeks old. You may notcarry on more than one pet. Your pet in-cabin counts as one piece of carry-on baggage.

Also, Delta limits the number of pets per flight to: (1) Pet Allowed First Class BusinessElite® and (2)in the Main Cabin. Pets are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please call Delta in advance at 800-221-1212 to arrange to bring your pet on board. Some states may require a health certificate for your pet. Please take the time to call your veterinarian, the U.S. Department of Agriculture at 800-545-8732, or the Department of Agriculture of the state you are traveling to.

UNITED AIRLINES
A small dog, cat or domesticated household bird can travel with you in the passenger cabin if the pet is small enough to fit comfortably in a kennel that is placed under the seat. Animals are never allowed out of the kennel during flight. The charge is $80.00 for domestic travel one way; international rates vary by destination.

JET BLUE AIRLINES
JetBlue accepts small cats and dogs but NOT birds in the passenger cabin of the aircraft except on flights to and from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. The fee for a pet is $50 USD each way. Only one pet is allowed per customer unless you are bringing a certified service animal or documented emotional support animal. PET CARRIER Restrictions:
Only one pet is allowed per carrier and your pet must remain inside the carrier during the entire flight.
Your pet must fit in a carrier that is smaller than 18"l x 15"w x 8"h (45.72 cm L x 38.1 cm W x 20.32 cm H) and must be placed under the seat in front of you. Carriers that are 17"l x 12.5"w x 8"h (43.18 cm L x 31.75 cm W x 20.32 cm H) may be purchased with cash, check or credit card at any JetBlue ticket counter for a nonrefundable fee of $60 USD. Combined weight of the pet and carrier may not exceed 20 pounds (9.07 kg).
Your pet and carrier will count as your one carry-on item.


NORTHWEST AIRLINES
Small dogs, cats, and household birds may travel as carry-on luggage, in addition to the carry-on allowance for your flight. Click here to obtain the cost for pet transportation. The animal must be less than 15 pounds (with kennel), and must fit comfortably in a kennel placed under the seat.
Guidelines to take your pet on board the aircraft are as follows:
Inform Northwest when you make your reservation that you will be bringing an animal in addition to your carry-on luggage.
Call Northwest at least 24 hours prior to your flight to confirm your pet is traveling with you.
Your pet must be in an approved Carry-on kennel when you check in (maximum kennel size is 17" x 12.3" x 8"). In addition to standard Carry-on kennels, Northwest permits soft-sided animal carriers for animals traveling in the passenger cabin. Kennels are available through pet supply shops and a limited supply at select Northwest stations.


Summer Pet Embargo
Northwest Airlines prohibits pet and live animal acceptance when temperatures are forecasted to be above 85F/29.5C at any point on the itinerary (origin, transfer or final destination.) Snub-nose animals are not accepted when Temperatures are above 75F/24C at any point on the itinerary.
Because many cities are consistently above 85F, Northwest does not accept pets as checked luggage between June 1 and September 15 to/from the following locations:
